Sotai Ho

MAIN BENEFITS OF SOTAI

Sotai-ho is a gentle, relaxing Japanese healing method that is easy to perform anywhere, without the use of any equipment. The aim of this therapy is to achieve an optimal state of physical and mental health and to restore the body's fluidity of movement and balance, as well as the correct alignment of the spine.

Sotai-Ho con el Maestro Onoda
Master Onoda, pioneer of Sotai-ho in Europe, applying Sotai in his school in Madrid.

Sotai works the whole body, not at a local level on discomfort, but at a general level, with slow and synchronised movements, understanding the body as an indivisible mobile architecture.

Some exercises can be practised independently (auto-Sotai). However, they must first be learned with professional therapists, who will explain the indispensable details for the exercises to be effective, guiding the patient's body towards specific Sotai movements.

Sotai-ho aims for the most comfortable and pleasant posture for the patient combined with total relaxation of mind and body. The etymological meaning is:

So: Fix | Tai: Body | Ho: Method

What is Sotai-ho for?

Sotai-ho, thanks to its holistic treatment, can have beneficial effects on various ailments such as back, neck and shoulder pain. It is also used to treat sciatica, migraines, menstrual pain, menopausal symptoms, sports injuries, post-operative pain or asthma.

Origins of Sotai-ho

The idea of Sotai began with a Japanese doctor named Keizo Hashimoto. This doctor was dissatisfied with the limited pain relief of medical treatments for some of his patients. For this reason, he looked for alternatives to help him treat these patients in oriental manual therapies.

After studying neurophysiology in the 1920s, Hashimoto started working as a family doctor in a fishing region. There, with his patients' physical overload pain, he realised that many of them were turning to manual therapies because doctors were not relieving their pain. That is why he started his path towards the development of Sotai therapy.
